OK, as you may or may not know I have recently split up with my missus (still waiting for new offers ;) ) and to put it bluntly I'm a total cooking virgin.
Use this thread to post some recipes that I can try. Not ones that are too difficult please. I need FULL instructions to help me along - timings, oven temperatures etc.
When I get my new place I will give them a try and mark them out of 10. Well, maybe that's not fair as I may have cooked them badly.
Anyway, please avoid things like fish and peppers as I don't like them.
Over to you...
:) :)
If anyone has webcams then maybe we could both cook at the same time and you could show me what to do? Hehehe.

Sometimes I like to have dessert before dinner  so here is one of my favorites....Peanut Butter/Banana Cream Pie
Start with a frozen pie shell (pastries not being one of my strong points) cooking it, following the directions on the box. While it is cooking, take 1 cup of icing sugar and just about a 1/4 of a cup of peanut butter and mix them together in a bowl, until you have little wee peanut butter balls (adding a bit of icing sugar if needed). Now prepare one cooked banana pudding and follow the directions on the box for that, too, making the filling for your pie. When the pie shell comes out of the oven, place most of the peanut butter/icing sugar balls on the bottom (saving a bit to sprinkle on the top of the finished pie), making the first layer of your pie. Then pour in the banana pudding, still warm. Place this in the refrigerator for a few hours to chill. Once chilled, cover the top with whipped cream (I prefer Cool Whip...less work!) and sprinkle the remaining peanut butter/icing sugar on top, and it is ready to serve. Enjoy!

Sounds good Ang. I will try that one.
Anyone got any nice main courses too? I need convincing that it's better to cook than get ready meals...

As a long standing bachelor, staple diet is of course ready cooked...
But on a sunday mornin, mushrooms fried in beer, bacon fried in coke and a healthy portion of scrambled eggs goes a loooooong way!
Other than that, barbeque ribs chucked under a grill for 20 min and those rice packs ith the veggies and stuff in just thrown in boiling water for 15 min is also a good one...

Before work pop it in the oven for 30 mins on gas mark 6 then turn it down to the lowest setting.... Hey presto when you get home the house will smell gorgeous and you'll have a hot meal.

Hey Edster.........I just ran across this thread and thought I'd share this favorite recipe with you:
Chicken Breasts with Portabella Mushrooms
Spray a glass baking dish lightly with cooking spray.
Place 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the dish.
Spread the contents of a 4 oz can of mushroom steak sauce (you will find it near the canned mushrooms) over the chicken breasts. Cut 3 or 4 Portabella mushroom caps into 1/2 inch cubes. Place over the chicken breasts in the dish.
Sprinkle garlic powder or garlic salt to taste. (or a little Thyme is good instead of the garlic, if you prefer)
Bake in 375 oven for approximately 25 minutes (until chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear)
Remove from oven and move mushroom pieces aside slightly. Cover each chicken breast with a slice of Provolone cheese and return to the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese nicely. Remove from oven and serve with your favorite side dishes.
This recipe is quick, yummy and low in fat.
